Implementation of the English Language Proficiency Standards can prove to be a daunting task for classroom teachers and for other leaders supporting the work.  This series of sessions helps teachers and/or instructional coaches manage the process of working with the implementation of the ELPS.  This series is a four-part series (two days per session).  In each session, participants learn to implement the ELPS within the context of local and state accountability.
  • Session 1:  An Overview of the ELPS for teacher leaders, campus leaders, and district leaders; Linking the ELPS to student performance
  • Session 2:  Improving performance for English Language Learners - Linking the continuous improvement process as the foundation for ongoing improvement
  • Session 3:  Mining the accountability systems to ensure continued instructional focus for English Language Learners
  • Session 4:  Sharing best instructional practices through hands-on approaches for students

Leaders at all levels of the educational system need tools and processes to work through those levels while continuously improving student performance.  Orion's facilitators utilize the Malcolm Baldrige Criteria for Performance Excellence to help schools move systematically to high achievement.  This work requires leaders at all levels of the system to implement the quality improvement processes with fidelity.  The following series of sessions help move systems toward coherence:
